Three Ways To Overcome Bouts Of Craving
There are a lot of techniques out there for dieting. One may work on a certain individual while it may not work on another. If you want to lose weight, it's important for you to combine proper diet with a good amount of exercise. And don't just exercise when you feel like it, cause you're never going to get far. Exercising at least thrice a week would be a great start.
On the dieting front, what makes it so difficult to stick to your plan would be cravings for certain food products that you might really want to have. Things like chocolate, ice cream and pizza are all big no-no's when you're trying to lose weight through dieting. So how do you control your urges and make sure that you don't fail on your diet.
1. Don't deprive yourself from the food you want.
Too much of a good thing is bad, and depriving your self from it completely is even worse. You're going to end up obsessing over it and being more prone to giving in to your temptations. Giving in would mean that you would eat till you wouldn't want any. To stop this situation from happening, you shouldn't deprive yourself from everything you want. But what you need to know is that giving in to what you crave is easier said than done.
Everything you should do should always be kept in moderation. And on that note, you should always know that you should set limits to how much you could eat. The pleasurable effect of eating what you want might be immediate, but the consequences of eating that might end up with you spending thirty more minutes on the treadmill the next time you hit the gym.
2. Know what the consequences are of what you eat.
That means you should know the nutritional facts of what you're about to eat. Like how many calories a strip of bacon packs or how many calories are packed in just one krispy kreme donut. Once you're aware of that, you wouldn't need to be reminded about what the repercussions are if you indulge too much in food that isn't good for you.
Consequences should be like the number of extra minutes or calories that you need in order to make up for what you've eaten. That shouldn't be a problem if you're burning calories as fast as swimmers and track stars. But if you're not you've got to get your priorities straight – that extra donut or a better reading on the weighing scale?
3. Find someone to keep you motivated.
If you can't exercise total control of what you eat, it's best that you find someone to keep you motivated and to remind you of your goals. You should find someone whose opinion you take seriously and that that person wouldn't give in to what you want so easily. What you want is a little bit of positive reinforcement and some tough love so you could keep your eyes on the prize and soldier on with your diet.
