Four Foods You Should Try To Avoid When On A Weight Loss Or Maintenance Diet

When you're on a diet, especially when you're having one that's helping you lose weight, there are some types of food that you shouldn't be gobbling up on. It's just a hard fact that you need to accept if you want your diet to become as successful as possible. However, it's not safe to say as well that you're never going to be allowed to eat what you want anymore.

Diets aren't as cruel as you think. You've just got to get yourself in the right mindset so that you can prepare your body as best as you can. So anyway, which kinds of food are you supposed to try to avoid?

1. Cakes, glorious cakes – sadly.

That's right mister sweet tooth, put that dessert fork down and step away from the cake – slowly. Cakes, however tasty and delicious they may seem, are actually quite unimportant in your goal of losing or maintaining your weight. Well actually, it's quite important to your goal since that could be the single biggest threat for you to be unable to stick to your diet. If everybody knew the number of calories a slice of cake packs, perhaps lesser people would think about taking that second slice. Stay away from cakes as best as possible, and you are actually going to increase your chances at succeeding in your diet.

2. Fried food

That's right, that golden brown, battered, tasty, greasy, and oh so fulfilling fried food like fried chicken, French fries, and everything else would be a huge no-no in one's diet. No matter how tasty and devilishly tempting these kinds of food may be, you've got to put up a strong resistance against them. Indulging too much in fried food would be like a contract signing up your body for a longer tour of duty in heavytown. Only when you're able to kick your greasy addiction to the curb will you get a foothold on the number of calories you consume in a day.

3. Donuts

Sure, it's every policeman's favorite snack whether they're on desk duty or on a stakeout. But no matter how good these sweet, soft, and tasty treats may be, it's got to be put on the inactive roster for the types of food that you should be consuming on a daily basis. Think about it. Has anybody ever had a successful weight loss diet when they're munching on dunkin' donuts or some krispy kremes?

4. Potato Chips

Honestly, who hasn't munched down a whole bag of Doritos while watching some television or a movie? We get so hooked on what we're watching that we might not actually be able to notice how much we've eaten already. And once we notice that the bag's already empty, it would already be too late for you to stop. Regrets always do come late, so before you pick up that bag of chips with intentions of consuming the whole package, flip to the back and check how many calories are in one bag.
